Review: Koji Spring Heart Eyelash Glue

So I already posted about the eyelash glue I currently use, which is amazing by the way. But before choosing it, I tried Koji's glue. I think I should review this cause I remember being seriously at a loss at finding reviews on this product before I bought it.

Koji is a Japanese cosmetic company that is famous for it's Dollywink line of products, include the amazing long and glamorous dolly lashes popular among the Gyaru/Gal community. So naturally I assumed any glue made by them would be awesome as well.

It's also pretty much a well known fact that the Japanese make great cosmetics in general. Well I don't know that it is a fact fact but it's what I've been hearing...

Also because their cosmetic standards are a bit higher, it seems you'd be hard pressed at finding an eyelash glue that contains the formaldehyde so deeply embedded in Western counterparts, i.e. Duo.

But that does not mean it is natural by any stretch of the imagination. CosDNA doesn't give the Fix a great rating. Spring Heart isn't much better, as you will see in a few. But as I've mentioned with past posts, when it comes to certain cosmetics I know there are no good natural alternatives so my expectations are slightly lowered.

By the way, if you have a latex allergy, these glues are NOT for you!

So off I was, to the Asian cosmetic mecca known as SASA (affordable, but reputable) to buy me some eyelash glue. I wanted to buy the Dollywink Eyelash Fix by Koji but the price had me second guessing. Especially since I would have to pay shipping on top of that.

So I went with the cheaper alternative, the Koji Spring Heart. This glue happened to have pretty good ratings. I ordered it for its dirt cheap price just under $2, and it shipped for free all the way from Hong Kong in ridiculously oversized packaging.

Sasa does not love the environment, obviously.

But I can't hate them....cause I mean...they shipped for free.

Product Description: Soft in texture and transparent, helps to place false eyelash easily. Keeps your pretty and sexy eye all day long!
This product is highly recommended by the famous TV show “WQueen”.

Koji Spring Heart Glue
So cute!!!<3

My Thoughts: It literally has the cutest packaging I've ever seen. So adorable! And totally portable. And that's where the joy ends...

Koji Spring Heart Glue
WTF are you saying, dude??
The directions are in Japanese, so seriously I have no damn clue how it is supposed to work. Well I expected this. According to Sasa, the instructions are:
  1. Trim the false eyelashes to suit the width of your eye before you wear it on.
  2. Add glue to the base of the lashes.
  3. Let the glue dry until it turns tacky. Place the false eyelashes along your real lash line, so that they become part of your own eyelashes.
  4. Press gently on the centre first and then go towards the sides until the fake lashes are smoothly placed.
It comes out white and dries clear and the design helps you to have control so that you don't "over-apply" the product. BUT it is still easy to over-apply if you are not careful. What the SASA instructions don't tell you is that you have to be careful not to use TOO MUCH glue, a true case where less is more.

I let it become tacky and applied it.

I tried, and I tried and I tried to use and like it so many times but it barely held lashes to my eye for very long. I thought I failed at applying lashes, but really it was the glue that failed at being any good. I'm seriously at a loss at how anyone else is able to use this glue with positive results but it was a TOTAL bust for me!

  • formaldehyde free
  • cute packaging
  • dries clear
  • cheap
  • good for travel
  • easy to remove

  • Contains latex, a problem for some (but not me)
  • Wouldn't last forever (if you're a daily wearer) because the packaging is small
  • Needs way better hold
  • Not convenient--needs to be ordered online (for me)

  • Application:
  • Ingredients:☆ (2.5 more than a whole 3)
  • Hold:
  • Cost:Overall: ☆(2.5 out of 4)
Recommend?: Nope.

Sucks. But maybe I just don't know what I'm doing...
